Our example uses custom popups and hides popups for certain regions. Head over to this help doc to learn more.
You can highlight one or several regions in your projection map using our region groups feature. Here's how:

Add a column to your dataset – in our example, we've called it
Highlight.

Copy the names of the regions you'd like to highlight across to your new column – in our case, that would be California, Colorado and Texas. Then, bind the column under
Group in the
Data tab.

That's it! Now, back in the
Preview tab, you can customize the way your group outlines look in the
Region groups layer settings:
