How to visualize multiple columns of data in your 3D map
Adding controls to your 3D map can engage your audience into interacting with your visualizations and allow them to easily view the data they want to see. To add controls onto your map, follow these steps:
- 1
-
In order to make use of controls, you will need several columns of data to visualize. In the Regions tab on the data panel, insert your data next to the relevant regions. You may need to insert new columns for your data to fit into the sheet. Alternatively, you can upload your own data with GeoJSONs and data that you want to visualize. Read more about how to upload your own GeoJSONs here.
TIP: It is currently only possible to visualize mutliple columns of regions data. It is therefore important you insert your data into the Regions data tab to make use of this feature.
- 2
- Once the data is imported, insert the column letters with your data in the value tab on the Select columns to visualize. You will need more than one column of data for the controls to work, otherwise, there won’t be any data to switch between.
- Please note that it is currently only possible to visualize mutliple columns of numeric data (eg. via the "Value" column binding and not the "Category" column binding). If you would like to visualize multiple columns of categorical data, we recommend using our Projection map template.

- 3
- Go into the preview and scroll down to the Regions setting group on the settings panel. From here you can select what type of control option you want. You can choose between a dropdown, buttons, and a time slider.
-
- 4
- You can change the style of the control buttons by clicking on the “Adv.” switch. This will then show a number of options that you can change and edit to perfect your visualization.
-
You should now have a 3D map that allows users to click between the different data and is ready to be published!
